The ice once stretched so wide and vast,
Now its disappearing frighteningly fast,
A kingdom once white, a realm so still,
Now it melts due to a lack of our will.
The ice it cracks, it groans then slips away,
A pitiful shadow of what it was just the other day,
Wildlife is suffering trying hard to survive,
Whilst so many excuses we try to contrive.
Rivers carve where ice once lay,
The glaciers weep in rapid decay,
The oceans rise while shorelines flee,
A dire warning issued by the raging sea.
But still we burn, we drill and drain,
And wonder why our earth’s in pain,
Some people shout but their voices are lost,
A future thawed at a terrible cost.
