Just Listen

when someone speaks gently, with trembling tone,

their words unsure, but thoughts so deeply sown,

as in their breath they silently plead,

will someone pause and hear my need.

to listen well is to give some space,

for grief and joy and hearts to race,

no answers pressed, no hurried claim,

just a presence held and to give no shame.

as wisdom blooms with no voices shrill,

when ears are open and hands are still,

the quiet holds a steady guide,

where empathy and caring love reside.

so lend your ears, your heart your soul,

and let that silence make you whole,

for those that hear the world with care,

make it worthwhile their love to share.
