Beneath mental clouds both dark and grim,
My heart grows feint and my spirit dim,
Through torment harsh and a need to cry,
A spark remains, it will not die.
A path obscured by thorn and stone,
Yet courage whispers “you’re not alone”.
Step by step though slow and small,
The climb begins to show them all,
How strong I am, and that I will grow,
With a core of iron from head to toe.
The weight that pressed so heavy and vast,
Is lighter now, it could not last,
Each scar a story each tear a flame,
All proof I’ve fought and staked my claim.
As mountains bow to those that strive,
And rivers part for dreams alive,
Adversity bends, it will not break,
My soul has dared, my sole’s awake.
So I must hold on to my strength within,
The battles fought are the ones that I win,
Through every trial I’ll emerge anew,
And through adversity, I will renew.
