The Risk of Love

Through storm and fire, through loss and gain,

Love’s embrace dissolves the pain,

With every whisper and with every glance,

It offers you strength, that final dance.

So love and be loved, let your heart ignite,

Find strength in those arms that hold you so tight,

And with the courage that love does impart,

Go forth, unafraid with a wide open heart.

Be wary though of falsehoods claimed,

As Cupid’s arrows can be poorly aimed,

To write words like lines in shifting sands,

With soft whispers shaped by lovers warm gentle hands.

They speak of a future carved in stone,

But what time reveals is you standing alone,

Each promise as brittle as a frozen flower,

Crumbled beneath loves fallen tower.

So let the tides erase their name,

Let time’s ripples dull the spectre of your pain,

For love should never feel like this,

A lesson learned in one fateful kiss.
