This Topsy Turvy World

It is a topsy turvy world,

Where sense is silenced, and nonsense screams.

Where feeling down gets you a label,

A prescription, a reward and a comfy duvet.

Where losers are crowned for showing up,

While stoicism and grit are mocked as toxic pride.

Where cheats wear medals, crooks write laws,

And justice, she takes the night off, yet again.

Truth is a joke now, told in bad faith,

While empty slogans fill the void.

We worship brands, ignore the scars,

And call it progress as society burns.

I could list every stinking lie,

But what is the point? You have heard them too.

We should become more resilient, whilst not forgetting our humanity,

But that won’t trend, so we don’t.

So, rage gets buried, swallowed whole,

While cowards dance and cheats they rule.

And the rest of us?

We scream in silence,

Grinding our teeth on the edge of a smile
