No Such Thing as Nothing

There is no such thing as nothing because nothing does not exist,

There is never a nothing present, it would just be too big a risk

So when you tell me that nothing is wrong,

I know that that’s untrue

Please tell me now what’s really wrong and I’ll see what I can do.

As if nothing is the problem then why are you so sad?

And if I can make you smile again then that would make me glad.

Because nothing can’t be something,

And something must be true,

If nothing’s ever really there

Then what’s a fool to do?

We fill our empty teacups,

With suspicion fear and doubt,

And call it nothing, it’s not a thing,

Till something tumbles out.

So tell me what is really wrong,

Don’t hide it out of view,

For nothing only hurts us more

When sorry is overdue.
