Silent Screaming

Nothing is as deafening as a silent scream

Emanating from a broken heart’s dream.

Betrayal and lies were there from the start,

So blind I could not see your cold black heart.

I was sucked into your web, I realised it too late,

Each thread you had woven was with charm, laced with hate.

You uttered promises, dressed them up as sincere,

And I swallowed them down, with a smile and a tear.

Your touch was cold but disguised as loves flame,

Your kiss was the way you cemented my shame.

But I gave you my trust and my love all the same,

You made me doubt myself, yet you felt no blame.

Whilst in the ruins, you laugh and you sneer

At the remnants of love that were never sincere.

My heart lies shattered, its beat is undone,

You played your game, I lost, and you think you have won.

So now I’ve survived, I reflect on life, but consider my death,

Learning that joy and then sorrow share the same breath.

For nothing bleeds stronger than a love that has betrayed,

And nothing dies faster than the trust I once gave.
