My wish for you is not fortune and is certainly not fame
Neither is it for you to stand out and make for yourself a name
It’s to be content and secure to enjoy the natural world as you bask in the rays of the sun
To know you are already enough, just as you are, my fine son
I wish you quiet mornings where your thoughts are kind and slow,
Where doubts pass like clouds above, and not to fret about truths you’ll never know.
May you learn that being gentle is a strength the world still needs,
And courage sometimes whispers where others shout about their deeds.
You do not need the perfect words or timing finely true,
Connection grows in patience, not in being someone new.
If silence keeps you company, let it be a trusted friend,
For listening hearts speak volumes, even when they do not trend.
When fear tells you you’re falling short or somehow left behind,
Remember growth is not a race, and worth is not defined.
Your value lives in empathy, in honesty, in care,
In showing up as who you are, with nothing left to spare.
And if the world feels loud and fast, too sharp, too much, too bright,
Know you have a steady place, a love that holds you tight.
I will walk beside you always, through doubt and through delay,
Proud of you not for who you’ll be, but who you are today.
