The Selling Out of our Youth

You walk the street and interrogate the ghost on the corner,

fakes impersonate kings, but they hide in the flora and fauna.

Sirens scream in the night, watch the system berate us,

We know the code of the kerb, now never can they break us.

We learn to hate the promises they feed to the youth,

while they relegate our lives and spit poison at truth.

They lock the streets down, incarcerate the screamers

incarcerate us all try to silence the dreamers.

They build the walls high, try to duplicate the pain,

but we’re standing in the fire, and we’re pissing in the rain.

Never trepidate, step up, let the pavement just crack,

got a passionate hunger and we ain’t turning back.

Watch the smoke rise high, let the old ways dissipate,

bring the match to the cage, it’s a date with our fate.

No more hiding in the shadows, time to elevate,

Incinerate the bonds, now we break their estate.
